An Artistic Immersion of a Lifetime
February 24th, 2010 § 1 Comment
The JSS is pleased to announce its new location at the University of Siena’s historic Certosa di Pontignano. On a hill overlooking Siena with stunning landscapes in all directions, the Certosa di Pontignano is a former monastery that has been converted into bedrooms, apartments, working rooms and lecture halls together with a restaurant, vineyards, olive groves and vast garden. This year for the first time, the JSS is opening the program to outside students and artists who wish to reside for 2, 4 or 6 weeks working on their own, as well as sharing and contributing to an intense incubator-like environment of work, research, culture and ideas. A divine haven for artists, the JSS at the Certosa Summer Program offers an artistic experience of a lifetime.
The JSS at the Certosa Program in Italy offers students or artists the possibility of an incomparable engagement with the history of art, its idioms, pictorial conceptions, methods, materials and techniques. The direct experience of Italy’s boundless artistic heritage has the ability to nurture artistic understanding, skill and life-long inspiration.
There are three separate programs for participants:
JSS Master Class Summer Program
Artists Residency Program
JSS Studio Program
